Why homemade food still matters

It would be easier to take shortcuts. Most places do. But from the day we opened, we've believed that food made properly — fresh, by hand, every morning — is worth the extra effort. Here's why it still matters to us.
You can taste the difference. Bread that's fresh, fillings made that day, soup that started as actual ingredients rather than a packet. None of it is complicated. It just takes care, and care is something you can taste.
Fresh daily isn't a slogan. We prep in the morning for the day ahead. It's why the counter looks different depending on when you come in, and why the specials change — we cook what's good, not what's left over.
Good value and good food aren't opposites. Homemade doesn't have to mean expensive. It means honest portions, proper ingredients and a fair price — the kind of place you can come back to twice a week without thinking about it.
It's a Glasgow thing. Tradeston's changed a lot, but a good local café doing proper food is something worth keeping. That's the bit we're proud of.
